Hello my fishy friends! I hope your Chinese New Year holiday was a fruitful! Mine was rather quiet, made a couple of house visits, played with a few animals, coaxed and cuddled a few little babies, chased and 'terrorized' a few kids and ate, ate and ate... =) I hope you all had a fruitful one... And to those who did not celebrate it, I trust you all had a well-deserved break...
The esscence and purpose of welcoming each Chinese New Year for me, has always been filling myself up sugar-high with happy thoughts... Of know my mobile would be swarmed with all kinds of adorable greetings, of knowing I have my lovely family with me, of knowing I can come home on the eve to tuck into a family reunion meal, of knowing I would be seeing at least 90% of my cousins and extended family, of knowing we would be celebrating my Amah's birthday on the 3rd day of the New Year, of knowing another another year has passed and of being able to toss Yu Sheng high high and everywhere!!!
Post Chinese New Year over the weekend, with the encouragement from my fellow Project Superstar 2 pals and good friends, I decided to take part in the auditions for the One Million Star Season 3 series. And boy, what an experience it turned out to be...
DAY 1 - 16 Feb 2008, Saturday, 2pm
At the open area outside Plaza Singapura at 2pm, what a windy day it was...
I got my ticket... Just 15 minutes before they closed registration...
The stage was set...
By the time it was my turn, and about 400 people later, it was almost 5pm. I sang Sun Yan Zi's "Wo Huai Nian De" and got rang out (the ding ding bell judging system) in 18 seconds into the chorus..Eeks... I have a super grainy video of me singing, which I could probably post up here when I find some courage to do so... Hee... And nobody could deny, that Singapore had plenty of talents to go around! There were countless of great vocalists, talented dancers and born performers, who strutted their stuff out over the 6 hours audition that saw even some contestants coming all the way from China, Malaysia and Indonesia. We even had our Malay friends taking part and a very talented 9 year old girl from the Kids Central One Minute Of Fame contest (who was pitch perfect)! =)
When the results were announced...
I ran to give Tricia and Peixian a big cuddle for we all got into the 2nd round!
2nd Day - 17 Feb 2007, Sunday, 12pm
The enthusiastic crowd...
Pretty Dawn and Kewei were there...Dawn got into the 2nd round too! Kewei did not take part though she was there supporting a good friend.
So did eye candies Kenny and Leon...
Jeremy too! Here with radiant Tricia and I...
Kewei's friend,Sugianto,Lingyi,Dawn and Kevin - all through the 2nd rounds too!
Dear Song Xian and my Shan Shan were there to give us support...
So was Weiling (I was sooo surprised to see her),ever happy Rah Rah, funky Kailin behind and adorable Xueting...
Kendric and lovely Angela, thank you for your constant encouragement...
And... THE JUDGES! Would also, find the courage to upload my 'funny' (as what Jeremy Kwan said) audition video when I can ya..Hee...
Jittery Me on stage... Hur hur...
We screamed our lungs out when Sugianto and Lingyi blew the judges away with their performances and were awarded 2 out of the previously planned 5 golden tickets to Taiwan... I recall seeing 4 tickets on the table while I was auditioning and did my maths (5 - 2 = 3 + 4 = 7). 7 tickets!!! There were 2 more chances!
And so, a 3rd unprecedented round commenced... I think about 14 of us of the remaining group were called up... I was the very last girl, the "109" whom they forgot about at the last second...Eeeks... So we had to sing a short line of our most "na shou ge" and they'd judge us again... Campus Superstar's Zhiyang and Yvonne walked away with the another pair of Golden Tickets! =) And rest of us were invited to go to Taiwan in July for their PK rounds... Yippy!
Post event - When the reporters poured in for interviews and pictures...
While I snuck off to have my golden moment with the very nice Kelly Poon (who was there to support her friend from Project Superband's MANTOU) and winner of the Xing Guang Da Dao Season 2 winner Lai Ming Wei (one of the judges)...He has a rocking new single out on the airwaves, listen out for it ya!
ME! Post event - With a literally hanging man... Hmm...
To all those who did not get in, don't dispair or give up on your dreams ok! It is heartening to know that some of you have been working really hard to achieve them, and I wish sometimes, that I had that tenacity and drive that you all possess in pursuing what you all like as a young teen... You all have my every 100% inch, nook and cranny of support... JIA YOU OK! =)
More updates coming up! For now, take care my dear readers and have a great week ahead...
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to all my precious ratty and fishy friends!!! =)
Its 04.05AM as I am typing this. Must stay up late late so my beloved Mama and Papa will live long long... (^_^)
Any 1984 hatchlings? -raises my hand up- Its finally our turn after 11 years of waiting... Let us furry rodents make the best out of this year ok!
Wonder how many of you all are still up enjoying yourselves with your relatives and loved ones... Its one of those special times which warrants a great reason for the appearance of those cute panda eyes when we go about our rounds visiting later eh...
I have tonnes of pictures to upload... So sorry for not coming online with updates that often, nevertheless none of you nor this little space of mine has ever been forgotten... Will update really soon...
For now, have a great Chinese New Year ahead!... Feast on them yummy goodies, drink more water, play and be merry, don't drink and drive, may luck be on your side for your cards and mahjong session and spend those Ang Bao money wisely ok...
